Galco's Soda Pop Stop

If you live in the L.A. area and you've never been to Galco's Soda Pop Stop on York Blvd. in Highland Park, you're seriously missing out. They have aisles upon aisles of cool flavored beer and sodas--cucumber, lemon-lime, root beer, coffee, peach and rose water. Owner John F. Nese stocks his shelves with obscure, vintage soda brands from around the world. The brightly colored packaging alone, some of which have names like "Moxie," "Plantation Style Mint Julep," "Sweet Blossom Soda Rose" and "Rogue Juniper Pale Ale," will make you want to buy the bottles simply for the way the look.

Nese also carries a mind-blowing selection of candy brands--Mallo Cup, Big Hunk, Cherry Mash, Abba Zaba, Oh Henry, Bottle Caps--that will take you back thirty plus years or to the idea of the general store.
